Barry Bonds’ equally athletic girlfriend, Mari Holden, is an Olympic cycling medalist, a former world time trial champion and a fixture at the major US tours. In 2000, she won a silver medal in the Olympic Games time trial in Sydney, Australia. She also won six US championships, becoming the first American woman to win three consecutive U.S. time trial championships.
Holden, who hails from Ventura, California, began cycling with her high school fitness club. After she moved to Colorado Springs in 1992, she then began training with the US cycling team. Named as one of the greatest ambassadors in the sport of cycling by Ride Magazine in 2008, Holden also coaches and holds cycling clinics and camps as well as serves as a consultant on women’s cycling issues and products.
